Carlos Espí scores five historic goals and scores five against Mourinho

Carlos Espí , the striker who has scored 2 goals in 5 games for Real Madrid , expressed his satisfaction with the five goals scored against San Marino in the resounding 0-13 victory of the Spanish under-21 team in a qualifying match for next year’s European Championship, and stated that it was “a special night”.

Espí became the first player in the history of the Rojita to score five goals and did so in his second international match in the category and his first as a starter.

“The truth is, it’s a special night. I was really looking forward to being here, to helping the team, and I’m very happy. We’re motivated to come here and win, and we fought until the very end. We knew we’d be in the box, I was ready for any rebound, any moment, and that’s where I was,” Espí commented in statements provided by the Royal Spanish Football Federation.

He considered it an “honor” that the whole team was happy for him and also attributed the credit for the five goals to the performance of the rest of the players. “They congratulated me ,” added the Valencian striker, who dedicated the achievement to his family and friends.

Under-21 coach David Gordo praised Espí’s performance, who also provided two assists : “He was doing his job, which was to score goals and help his teammates score as well.”

Gordo was pleased that the team reacted after the defeat against Finland and showed that “they have not lost their hunger”.

“We wanted to win from the first minute and score goals because of the importance of the standings. And also, I think we played with a great deal of respect for our opponent,” the coach pointed out.
